Jake Lever

Jake’s practice as an artist encompasses printmaking, painting, sculpture and installation. His current preoccupation is with the image of the boat. This emerged a few years ago as a metaphor that enabled him to reflect upon his father’s journey through terminal illness and his death. These small structures are reminiscent of pods and cocoons, vessels of protection and nurture needed at the outset of our life’s journey. They are also primitive boats, fragile vessels that are a metaphor.
