Louise takes her inspiration from the vast open moorland and steep rocky edges of the Peak District landscape. Her work reflects the rhythmic patterns of the fields and edges and the walls and hedges that gently follow the curves of the land.
Originally a printmaker, Louise has been working with clay for a number of years. When creating her hand-built vessels she uses techniques which draw on her background as a Printmaker. Sgraffito lines are ‘etched’ into the surface of leatherhard clay. Coloured slips are applied using monoprinting techniques, adding layers of colour and texture to the pieces.
