Arabella Kiszely is a Cotswold-based artist, curator and gallery owner. She is increasingly inspired by contemporary abstract art and intense colour. Arabella says: “I am fascinated by multi-layered paintings where what you can’t see is as important as what you can.” She feels her paintings and what she shows in her gallery have increasingly reflected this.

Her paintings are characterised by a confident, contemporary style, full of intense saturated colour and form. Her inspiration comes largely from the British coastline and the beauty of the Cotswolds, creating art where you can feel, as well as see, the energy and force of nature.

Her work has many influences including Henri Matisse, Peter Lanyon and the Scottish Colourists. More recently Lewis Noble and Paul Wadsworth workshops have provided huge breakthroughs in freeing her practice.

Having only taken to printmaking very recently Arabella is now rather obsessed with collagraphs. There is so much to learn about this intriguing process.

Her continuing journey will aim to instil the essence of collagraph into her paintings.
