After completing a BA (Hons) in Illustration at the University of the West of England, Ruth has continued to evolve and hone her unique monoprint technique.

Her pictures are delicate, translucent drifts of colour on fine tissue paper, applied to the larger scale of mixed media boards and layered up with paint and drawing. Painted prints or printed paintings, the results are something between an old Italian fresco, an English Romantic painting and a Japanese woodblock print. They are layered, textural, evocations of place.

Early in her career she was short listed for the Emerging Artist award at the Royal West of England Academy Open exhibition and won the Society of Graphic Fine Art's Best Work in Colour.

She has gone on to have work shown in prestigious print exhibitions at the Atkinson Gallery in Somerset and The Shire Hall in Stafford and in open competitions at well-regarded venues such as the Royal West of England Academy.

In recent years she has completed a yearlong printmaking scholarship at the University of the West of England and has undertaken a residency at Lizard Point Lighthouse resulting in exhibitions in Helston and London.

Ruth exhibits widely in both group and solo shows, leads hand printing workshops and is represented by several galleries in in the UK.

She lives and works in Bristol and is a member of Spike Print Studio.
